New 24/4 Online Radio Platform Launches to Showcase Artists with Disabilities

A first-of-its-kind radio station dedicated entirely to showcasing the work, stories, and creative visions of people with disabilities is officially making its debut.

The new digital audio platform, known as DMFRadio, began streaming this week. According to Daniel’s Music Foundation—the New York City-based nonprofit organization that provides inclusive music programs for people with disabilities and is the driving force behind the initiative—the station will exclusively air the music, stories, and creative vision of artists who identify as having a disability.

Designed to operate around the clock, the station broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Program organizers emphasize that the network features human-curated programming rather than automated algorithms, spanning a wide variety of musical genres and styles. Through this curated approach, DMFRadio aims to connect global audiences with a diverse roster of more than 500 both new and established artists from around the world.

To ensure broad and inclusive representation, the station’s inclusion criteria are straightforward: participating musicians must have publicly self-identified as having a disability. This wide-net approach means the station’s catalog bridges the gap between emerging talent and globally recognized performers, incorporating well-known household names like Billy Joel and Jewel alongside underground and independent artists who are just beginning to build their public audiences.

Ken Trush, co-founder and managing director of Daniel’s Music Foundation, explained that the platform is fundamentally rooted in exploration and cultural expansion. He noted that DMFRadio is fundamentally about discovery, giving listeners a dedicated, uninterrupted platform to explore the positive, thought-provoking songs and stories of artists with disabilities, with the ultimate hope of encouraging listeners to reflect on human differences and shared creative experiences.

The launch of the station comes at a time of unprecedented saturation in the modern music marketplace. Industry data highlights the sheer volume of audio content competing for consumer attention every day. Foundation representatives pointed out that over 106,000 new tracks per day were released to commercial streaming services in 2025 alone. In such a crowded digital ecosystem, independent artists face immense hurdles in cutting through the noise, and musicians with disabilities have historically experienced even deeper underrepresentation within mainstream commercial radio, playlist curation, and major industry backing. DMFRadio is specifically intended to counteract these systemic barriers, offering a targeted space where these musicians have an unobstructed chance to stand out and reach dedicated listeners.

Vance Padmore, who is leading the new radio station initiative, pointed out the systemic limitations of traditional commercial music discovery. He noted that too often, music discovery pathways lead listeners right back to the exact same artists and the exact same kinds of songs, limiting the broader cultural landscape. According to Padmore, DMFRadio offers an alternative path forward. The goal is for someone to tune in, hear an artist for the very first time, connect deeply with their music, learn the authentic story behind the composition, and keep coming back for more. In his view, these artists simply deserve to be recognized for their craft, and the new station aims to provide the professional platform required to make that recognition a reality.
